Tourism officials in Yarmouth, N.S., are hoping a new tune about losing the town’s ferry service will become an internet sensation – and help save the seasonal service.

Save Our Boat, written by local musician Gary Kent, is essentially an open letter to Prime Minister Stephen Harper. The aim is to convince the federal government to subsidize ferry service between Yarmouth and Maine. The federal government has said it won't decide on the issue until a study on transportation in the region is complete.

“We're writing you this letter, the leader of our land,” Kent states in the tune.

“Save us now. Save our boat. Please help somehow, help us stay afloat. It wouldn’t take that much, it would mean so much more. The ferry is our lifeline. Stop us drowning on the shore.”
